UN COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN - A VIDEO REPORT!
Polity is proud to have supported the BC Council for International Cooperation in the production of a video report from the UN CSW 65 conference. Working closely with BCCIC staff to code and select clips from remote video contributions, we added motion graphics and structure... The end product is a great, moving collage from a diverse team with a powerful mission of promoting gender equality globally.
“[Delegates] attended dozens of official sessions, virtual side-events, parallel events, and discussions hosted by state governments, non-governmental and civil society organizations, and women and youth-led advocacy groups. They learned from advocates, academics, policymakers, entrepreneurs, peacemakers, land defenders, and world leaders. They also unlearned their conscious and unconscious biases, and reflected upon their own privileges and positionalities. They also contributed to the drafting and negotiations of the agreed conclusions of the session, and were proud to push for the inclusion of the rights of Indigenous women and girls, of black women and women of colour, of women with diverse abilities, and of gender-diverse persons.
Despite limitations posed by the virtual format of the Commission, this delegation was able to foster a sense of community, collaboration, and collective and intergenerational learning. Throughout the conference, there were several opportunities for delegates to reflect on their experiences through blog posts, team debriefs, and presentations.
In a final act of coming together, the delegation has created an impact video and highlight report to showcase the delegation’s contributions and learnings to a broader audience. We hope that the video and report inspire other changemakers to step up to the plate and do their part to further gender equality and women’s empowerment in their communities.
